Just had probably the most infuriating call with ticketing. I was impacted by the same cancelled flight as CC, but I wanted to wait until AC called me to deal with it. Received a call near end of business-day EDT on June 12 requesting I call back to deal with the itinerary. Called today and spoke with an agent who informed me a change fee would be assessed, and that no refund for the difference would be issued. (both contrary to CC's experience)

Here is what I see:
1) New itinerary is one segment less than original
2) The need for change is 100% the result of a controllable flight cancellation (which they continue to categorize as a schedule change)

Because the call was encroaching on my lunch break end, I had to cut it short... she said she would save the new flights but I would need to call back to finalize it. It appears my PNR has already been changed, and everything is now Tango (S) which is inconsistent with what CC was told (that a V could not be reissued as an S). She also said they would need to raise the fares to whatever is required to preserve the value in the ticket, otherwise AC would just eat the difference.

Some things that were said during the call:
Tango is a non-refundable fare. (actually not true)
CC is mistaken. He did not receive a refund. There is no way he would have received one because she does this all day. I won't colour my post with the implications of the wording she used, as I do not have a recording of the call.

But here is my conclusion:
Any company I do business with where I feel I need to be a lawyer, collect evidence, and support my case to deal with a unilateral change in contract, is dealing in bad faith.
