BigLar, it doesn't appear that you read the links provided by Cheryl above, particularly the second one, which says, in part:

The practice of depilation goes back to the dawn of civilization. The standard of beauty for ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks was a smooth, hairless body that was achieved through using sticky emulsions of honey and oil.

Islamic culture promoted hair removal, which has carried over into practices at modern hamams, or Turkish baths.

It is said that returning Crusaders introduced the practice to Europe; Renaissance paintings depict women as having minimal hair.

And did you miss the discussion in OMNI a few months back in which FWAAA polled: Pubic Hair - Landing Strip, Dorito or Nothing at All?

OK - beat me up - see if I care.

Well, no matter what they used, I still maintain the average man or woman was hard pressed enough to survive; getting hold of honey or other sticky emulsions would have been a problem. Let's be sure we're not judging on the aristocracy and taking that as the norm.

Sorry I missed the other thread. I'll look it up. Hey! She asked for an opinion, not a treatise. I don't need facts to justify an opinion - just ask parnel.

Well, I read the other thread. I must be gay - like the gay guys who commented, I don't understand it either.

I can make a couple of guesses, though. I think I'll pass at this point.
