Ottawa seems more susceptible to the "rush hour" overload of the US Pre-Clearance.

Arrive at YOW with boarding pass in hand at least 1.5 hours before your flight. If you're traveling on an early AM flight make it at least 2.

Your US citizenship might make your clearance faster but that won't help you if there is a large line.
