The AA website will be quoting you the price using AA miles and under the AA frequent flyer scheme. To use AA miles, you book with AA (either online or on the phone).

The BA website will be quoting you the price using BA miles (ie Avios) and under the BA frequent flyer scheme. To use Avios in BA's frequent flyer scheme, you book with BA (either online or on the phone).

As the two schemes are different, it's very often the case that they will have different (sometimes very different) prices for the same flight (both in the number of miles needed and also in the cash element). In some cases, it can even be the case that one scheme can offer you a flight as an award when the other scheme can't.
