Yep, I just called and was denied. To use her exact words, "65 minutes is more than enough time".

I called the US 1-800 number. Would I have any better luck (maybe a different call center?) if I called the Aussie number?

If I can't change it, I can't change it. I'll cross my fingers and make sure to invest in a good pair of running shoes. But I'd like to speak with someone who realizes that 65 minutes leaves absolutely no margin of error and it's cheaper for Qantas to put me on an earlier MEL-SYD flight than to put me up in a hotel overnight if I miss that connection.
