Being in Dallas and flying to Philly a lot - I have actually started booking Us airways flights as upgrades are so much easier than on AA metal.
I suspect that it is because people can't figure out to book U.S. flights on us metal as they are used to aa.com and booking aa flights - so they don't get to the list until 24 hours.
In addition - I find it a lot easier to fly out of the high e gates as I always come back to my car - and don't have to transfer.
The only thing I don't like is haveing power on U.S. planes - but just make sure to get a full charge before I leave.
I've avoided code shares and had good upg success on USAir flts. I've noted that for many flts. the first row (4 seats) in FC is BLOCKED; is this why I've gotten upgraded (even at T-105, last week!).
