My 7 year old eats boned fish, almost all vegetables, and light spice. I personally think it's fine to not have him eat food that is too spicy or exotic - espcially on a plane. I also don't force him to watch movies that will scare him give him nightmares, discipline him with physical force etc. But that's just me with my specific kids...
Points noted, and admittedly it is easy to say without having children (yet), I'll probably have to eat my words when I do... and as other posters have said, the wasabi may be a bit much for a 7 year old, so maybe the sea bass? I do hope your child enjoys the flight, my first transcon was around that age a long time ago, and it sparked my current interest in air travel.
