You don't want to lift weights to lose weight. You want to lift weights to loose fat. Muscle is denser than fat, so if you build muscle, you could be just as heavy as before. You will also be skinnier, healthier, stronger, etc.

OTOH, two weeks is too early to worry about what results you're getting.
