Because the BA A318 has winglets, my understanding is that it could be updated with sharklets, unlike some of the older A318s.
The BA A318s have wingtip fences, not winglets. I think that's the same with all A318s isn't it?
A winglet is the same as a sharklet in appearance. (Think A340, 747-400, they have winglets)
