Not strictly true, if the baby manages to stay in the UK for 10 years then they can be registered as a UK citizen.

If the baby is stateless then they will be a UK citizen, and the parent(s) may then be permitted to remain. If the baby managed to obtain citizenship of another EEA country then the parents may also have the right to stay in the UK.
