In my experience you have one to many ones in your percentage.

I have done this routinely for years because my travel plans change. Fly into a hub and then buy another ticket to some other location and skip the connecting flight. Not a peep. I think the reality is they do not care.

Checked bags may be another matter. As stated have them checked by another member of your family.
