Unlike other loyalty programs, Chase does not seem to run the IHG card application thru IHG first before it issues the card. I know Chase would send Marriott and BA applications to the loyalty programs first to verify the membership data before Chase would issue the card. So if Chase does not run thru IHG first to verify the membership info, does NOT equate to "Chase allows us to do so".
Thank you for the advice. What I meant by this is when I applied I did not elect a membership number. After opening the card I asked them if I could change the number to an existing account and they filed a request which was approved within a few days. I tried doing this with the Amex Hilton card but it was denied by Hilton because the account was already linked to another Amex card (so I assumed that Chase was allowing this to happen but I guess it probably didn't verify anything).

I will take the advice and split the accounts. I just thought it would be easier to utilize the 140k in points then two accounts with 70k but it may not be worth the risk...
