More profitable vs. what? Since 2005, only 317 A380's have been ordered (~31 per year), 140 of those orders were by Emirates. Over 800 787's were ordered before the aircraft even launched. 764 A350's have been ordered with three already delivered. So, based off of those numbers, do you believe the A380 is profitable and do you believe airlines prefer two or four engined aircraft? Delta will not be ordering/purchasing the A380 anytime soon.
I'm not referring to Airbus or Boeing profitability. What i'm really asking is whether or not the operating cost of an A380 is cheaper per passenger-mile than a 777 or 787.
