Indeed and you really won't see much from the lounge even if it did. You may see some of the 9pm fireworks if they go down the harbour.

Around a million people line the harbour on NYE. Many get there some 12 hours beforehand to secure a good spot. Your best bet is to either do this or look look to book tickets for a hosted even somewhere.

My tip, stay on the south side of the harbour if you can, getting back home from the north side (Milsons Point etc.) took several hours although it was well organised.
