Are there any rules of thumb on when to go for the E-gates and when to go for the standard queue?

Currently I just feel like I've made the wrong decision whichever one I select. I never have the presence of mind o course a "marker" person who arrived at the same time, so can't verify that...

Good to hear the rumours that more E-Gates are forthcoming. I was thinking the other day that they were installed when passport chips were fairly uncommon. Passengers seem to be the bottleneck there, so it should be a big improvement.

That said, I'm surprised it hasn't been seen fit to install a premium facility - I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd pay some sort of annual fee so it seems like a potential profit centre for someone...
