I have a feeling its intentional for BA to make all flights 4 digit numbers... and does adding an extra 0 make any real difference
Yes the software BA use called Pegasus which is Amadeus based shows the flight numbers with zeroes. It would also mean that on a printed document that you would be sure of the flight number being correct rather than wondering whether the printer had correctly printed the flight number.
