I d agree that AF might not apply the policy as written but there is a key part of the text which indicates that it does not have to be a connection at all. See the word 'or' highlighted above. So, to me it states all international first and business class passengers travelling on a same-day international flight...ergo, lounge access should apply regardless of whether it is a connecting flight or not.
