Two days in Gettysburg

I posted here before our trip, seeking advice on visiting Gettysburg. Now that I've been there, I can say that the recommendation for The Gettysburg Hotel was a good one. It's not by any means a luxury hotel but the location is great and if, like me, you are not a B&B fan, I think it is the only full-service (well, mostly full-service) hotel with an in-town location. Thanks to those who provided advice.

We did have to change rooms - we were initially given a room with no windows! The desk clerk kept telling us how great this room with "skylights" was. Apparently the entire floor was once a bank vault that they have repurposed but on top of no windows, there was no hot water in the shower. New room had a nice view of Lincoln Square.

Another concern I had before our visit was accessibility. I have back problems and wondered if I would have to sit out much of the battlefield tour. Happily, this was not the case - you can park close to almost every battlefield highlight. Might be tough in a wheelchair to see everything, but it would still not prevent you from learning and enjoying the experience.

If anyone wants more detail or recommendations (dining, reading, touring) I've posted about our visit here: https://polloplayer.wordpress.com/20...ng-gettysburg/
