why it is hard to stay with air nz
I have just been trying to book a flight with Air NZ to Yangon (Rangoon in old money). They could book me to Singapore on Air NZ metal but I then needed a separate ticket with Silk Air to RGN. This gave me an 8+ hours connection in SIN. Cost - nearly $3,000.
I then tried Singapore airlines. Same flight and plane as Air NZ and a 1hr 15 mt connection in SIN. Because of separate ticketing Air NZ couldn't do that for me. Cost? $1,750.
My plan was to buy PE to SIN with Air NZ and then use airpoints to upgrade to BP. 480 APD for the upgrade, nearly $4,000 for the PE ticket.
Instead I am flying Business class on MH to KUL and then on to RGN. 2+ hours connection in KUL each way. Cost? $4,000.
My point is I am trying to be faithful to Air NZ but why do they make it so hard? I travel often to Bangladesh, the UK and Australia, PE or BP where posiible.
As a result of the above, I am now a QF frequent flyer and I now have an incentive to fly other than NZ on TT.
