If I had to guess, I would speculate that there may be an adjustment coming in the future whereby the top-tier earnings we've enjoyed domestically disappear.
On the redemption side, though, if Domestic F became J, then redeeming BA Avios for short haul US flights would get a whole lot better. Even with the Avios devaluation. US, while it continues to exist, makes a lot of domestic F saver award space available (Z inventory) but it's been tight on coach (T inventory) lately. At least ex-PWM/BOS.
