To be honest I welcome the policy. Too many people get boozed up in the lounge and top it up at 39.000 feet. Sometimes it smells like sitting next to a hobo just crawled up from under the bridge.

Most domestic flights are somewhere in the 1 hour range with 15 minutes ascent, 15 minute descent and 30 minutes in the air. I guess having one alcoholic drink for those 30 minutes should be good enough.

For the longer European routes like to MAD three drinks doesn't sound so bad as well.

And like they said: It is a baseline policy.
