A tragedy, and very sad to see.



Basic prudence suggests an open window isn't a good idea when the lion is literally only 4 feet away. You have ZERO chance of reacting in any way since the lion can cover that distance easily in a single leap.

I especially wouldn't make any moves like taking pictures....

I mean, I wouldn't do anything to startle a house cat given that kind of distance. Even a house cat can put a claw or a fang into your face at that distance...
