Shangri-La is making some changes to their Golden Circle program. As is usually the case when a program changes, there's 1 slightly good change and multiple rotten changes. A summary:
  • You can gain status either by number of stays (10/25 for Executive/Elite) or number of nights (25/75).
  • The membership year changes from a rolling year to a January-to-December calendar year.
  • Complimentary breakfast (the extent of which depends on membership level) will be in the café only, not room service
  • Suite upgrades for regular and Exec members, which used to be US$25/night regardless of the hotel, will now be a variable price, depending on the hotel. Suite upgrade prices will begin at US$25/night, but there's no stated max price.

SO the suite upgrades in the better hotels will be unpayable :-(

One more update: Executive members get full breakfast now.
