Booked my upcoming CX reward about 6 months ago: AKL x/HKG JFK x/HKG AKL. On the outbound HKG JFK I stoopidly chose the morning flight ex-HKG, rather than the afternoon or evening one. Currently I fly into HKG on the evening and catch the onward segment shortly after 9 the next morning. Not enough time to do anything useful in Hong Kong--like the awesome outlet mall one train stop away.

Been using the BA tool to see if J reward inventory is added for 25 June HKG JFK. So far a few Y+ seats have appeared. Anyone have any recent experience with more J reward opening up within, say, 3 weeks of travel date?
