I think if you do fly on short segments in Europe often you could be hampered without your min 500 miles that MX do not offer. There are some exceptions here, based on airline.

Agree they can be difficult to deal with.

One thing that is a draw back also, is you will not find many special offers if you are based outside of N/America, most specical hotel, car rental, etc offers are typically for rentals from places in Mexico or warmer destinations of N/America. IE earn double miles at the Hyatt Los Cabos! Or Guadarlhara!

I have doubts about how great AC are though - no email plus any program which needs an AeroPlan ombudsman concerns me.
