When you fire somebody in China (even with cause), you are required to give them around 3 months salary as a severance. (We used to assign extremely boring tasks to people we wanted to fire, in hopes that they would quit on their own; this doesn't actually work in practice.)
I happen to know a few girls who work for CZ and I've been told that with above average English and working on international routes will make Y15000/month a month. I also know a girl who works for Thai but based in GZ who makes Y20000/month. But this is China, who could possibly refuse another 3000RMB

Also as another data point, I watch someone upgrade from economy to business last year going to Australia. They swiped the guys credit card with the same machine they used for duty-free sales.
