I wanted LCY to win, but ignoring the travel to the respective airports (which clearly will depend on where you live!), airport door to airport door was 9:17 for LHR and 9:34 for LCY. Not much in it.....

And for those who don't have Global Entry and are not US citizens, I guess the whole experience of standing in line for what seems like forever is enough to make the extra stop in Shannon worth it even if it is actually a bit longer sometimes. 1:30 in line vs. 1:30 on a plane may be the same in terms of time but in terms of comfort and level of frustration, I can see that it's world's apart. Anyway, thanks to all for appeasing my curiosity.
