I'm not aware of any DL 737-800 (73H or 73Y) aircraft with 5 rows in F. Perhaps the OP was initially looking at 737-900ER (739) seating?
Regarding Delta's 737-800 fleet, there are currently two versions. 73H has personal video on-demand and 73Y has the older overhead television screens. As was previously mentioned the recent introduction of new wifi-based on-demand video technology may have reduced the urgency and/or schedule for upgrading the older aircraft entertainment systems to seatback AVOD.
It's been our experience that many, if not most, DL narrow-body aircraft serving Caribbean routes still have the older style overhead television systems. Many of the 757-200 aircraft still have the CRT monitors that hang from the ceiling. (Despite previous encounters and frequent warnings from FAs my head remains a magnet for finding them.)
Personally I despise the seatback AVOD systems. I don't watch TV or movies in flight and hate being forced to watch the constant TV commercials every time DL decides I need to watch them. DL turns it on automatically at least twice on every flight and I turn it off manually at least twice on every flight. It's also frustrating to find my laptop backpack won't fit under the seat in front of me because there's an AVOD box taking up the space. Give me the old planes any day.
