Hi everyone,

Thanks for the input. I will clarify some follow-up questions:

When and why was the flight cancelled?
See canopus27's reply. After boarding, we sat on the tarmac for 2 hours before the flight was cancelled and deplaned.

How late did you arrive at your final destination of YVR compared to your originally scheduled time before the flight was cancelled?
I arrived in YVR yesterday morning (May 30) at 11:30am. I was scheduled to arrive the day before (May 29) on AC195 at 8:46pm from YUL.

The onus is with AC if they booked you but 'forgot' to put in baggage allowance. Or with UA as its their award ticket.
I called AC to rebook after the flight was cancelled. The confirmation they sent me showed the following:

can you do a lookup of your ticket number from your BA boarding pass on the Saudia website and see what your fare category is as well as your baggage allowance. That should show you what AC had done to get your space.

Fare Calculation:
30MAY15WAW LO X/GVA AC X/YMQ AC YVR0.00NUC0.00 END ROE1.0PD16.10XW17.90CH

Seems like a curious case. I will file a refund form with AC for the bag charge and look into EU261. If anyone has more comments please post. Thanks!
