Seeking some help and advice here. My flight yesterday (May 29) from GVA to YUL was cancelled. Final destination was YVR. I called AC and re-booked to travel through LHR to YVR today (May 30).

When I was checking in with BA in GVA, they informed me that the ticket does not allow any checked bag. I went back and forth between swissport who represents AC and BA, but swissport couldn't convince BA. I paid for the bag in the end and got the receipt and documents from both sides, one showing that I get 1 bag while the other showing none.

I plan to ask for refund at LHR if time allows or at YVR on arrival. Does anyone have experience with this? Would appreciate some input and advice.

I used UA miles to redeem this trip for the record. My last resort would be filing a charge back with AMEX for the baggage charge.

BTW, is it possible to receive monetary compensation for the flight cancellation under EU rules?
