Also, should I go ahead and do that, since it might take a while for the points to transfer over? Finally, we have trip planned for the beginning of August. I haven't purchased airfare yet. Should I go ahead and buy everyone's ticket except for my companion, who i can then add on later? Any advice is appreciated.
Last I checked, the ratio for Hyatt to WN is 5k--> 2400. (but a 5k WN bonus if you xfer 50k HGP). And, I can't remember the intervals (i.e., whether it has to be an even 500, 1k, 2.5k or 5k HGP).

Get everyone's ticket. reserve a ticket on points for your companion now to save a seat.

A companion can only be added after (and anytime after so long as a fare is available for sale on the flight) the companion holder's ticket is reserved.
