This seems to come up often. It's a United flight. Skywest is, in essence, a subcontractor. UA is responsible for the service of its customers regardless of who they use as a sub. Your point is technically correct, but IF this is the FA's fault, UA at least shares the blame.
Not to mention many gate agents are also Skywest or another contractor.
People blame UA for bad Skywest gate agents. They should blame UA for bad Skywest crews
