As a recent convert from Delta, I'm pretty shocked at what I'm reading. A delayed flight isn't enough to get put on a standby list? I would assume it would be enough to be immediately confirmed onto the flight.

On Delta, as soon as a flight is delayed at all, you're able to pull up the app or website and rebook yourself onto any flight. United has a similar setup.
