In 30 seconds or less you can check it on the app while in the air or when you land. You do not even have to put in your baggage number.
Geez....there was Absolutely no reason for you stand around. If you had checked in the air you could have gone straight to baggage claim, filed a claim and been gone in 10 minutes.
