I didn't doubt that people purchased tickets with AA code as the first leg, it is just that having an AA code on that leg goes against the generally accepted rules for codeshares. Namely, you need to connect to an AA flight. There are reports of people booking similar codeshares as part of an RTW ticket, but I haven't seen it for a one-way or round-trip.
Try to pull that same routing up on any OTA or ITA now and it won't work. I don't even now if it is "legal" in the airline ticketing world.
Besides, I'm happy with my QR 388 leg.
