I am in Kyoto now and am having dismal reception and data with both Docomo and Softbank. No service most of the time. Have tried manually switching carriers but it won't let me do that. Worked slightly better in Tokyo yesterday, but not great. I remember having much better luck 2 months ago when I was here. I have not seen any LTE signal. I have LTE enabled on my iPhone 5S.
