TownPlace Suites Ann Arbor, MI

I chose to stay at the Townplace Suites Ann Arbor over Memorial day weekend. I chose this hotel based on the following 2 criteria, A) It was in Ann Arbor, and B) It was the only Category 4 hotel in Ann Arbor, and I had a free night certificate for a Cat 1-4.

This hotel is pretty much brand new, in the last 2 year or so. Bright Fonts, Bright Colors. Its located in the Briarwood Mall Parking lot, right next to I-94 so there are no great views, or at least all the view are the same. There is no traffic noise in the room.

There is an indoor pool with an outside area attached, and the main lobby sitting area also has an outdoor sitting area. There are 2x gas grills for your usage as well.

There is a breakfast nook for a free breakfast, we never get up early enough for that so we never saw what it looked like. You can also buy soda and TV dinners in the lobby if you would like. Free cookies, bananas and apples in the evening.

We had a King Studio on the 4th floor. The rooms come fully stocked with a mini stove, Dishwasher and full size fridge. There was a 12 cup coffee maker, and every kind of cup, plate, (mixing) bowl, and cooking utensil you could think of.

As you walk into the room, you enter the kitchen. Stove and Fridge to the right, giant closet to the left. You could let a kid sleep in that closet, or hide a hooker in there. Its that big. Keep going towards the back wall, and the desk/ work area is to your right, and then a couch. Good desk, good work area. There is a couch, and then the back wall. The King size bed took up the Left wall, and the bathroom was back against the hallway. The TV is between the main hallway and the bathroom door. No way you could see the TV from the desk, but you can tilt it to face the couch or the bed. 2 tables on each side of the bed.

Maid service is a "refresh" every day, make the bed, towels, and our maid actually ran the dishwasher with our dirty dishes in it. Hell Yeah, now that is service.

I really loved having the full kitchen, even if all we used was a plate for brownies, the coffeemaker, and the cups.

You can tell that everything was made with the cheapest possible materials, bed, carpet, wallpaper, furniture, but its all in good shape. Its comfy, quiet, and the staff is friendly.

I would not hesitate to stay here again. If you were going to be here for a while, you could ship in groceries via Amazon Prime, we just went to the grocery store and bought brownies and coffee.

The one thing that is important to me beside quiet is how dark the room is at night. This one gets about a 6. I had to put a towel over the microwave, and at the crack in the front door, and and "stuff" the curtains in the window frame, but once I did that the room stayed dark in the morning.

Its not a FS Marriott, and there is no lounge, but if you need a place in Ann Arbor, this one fully does not suck.
