I had mentioned earlier a restaurant where the owner mentioned after swiping my card, "This (other) terminal is a brand new EMV one." So, today, I decided to see what would happen with my UNFCU card. I watched the server insert the card in the POS (behind the bar), fairly soon hearing an "It's asking for a PIN!" comment. I went over, entered it, and the unit spat out a customer copy for me, and a merchant copy, which said Signature Not Required. I don't know whether there was no tip option at all, or if the server bypassed it (unknowingly); I left a decent tip in cash. I put an X on the printed sig line of the merchant copy.
