Why don't they just start charging for carry-on and be done with it. Charge $25 per carry on item and give Status FF's the option of using their check in baggage allowance for carry-on. Non FF's will see way more value in checking a larger bag so there will be tons of overhead space in the cabins and everyone will be happy or supply Status flyers with actual baggage vouchers so I can trade my check in with someone else carry on. Doesn't hurt to dream I guess.
