Thanks for the tip -- however I guess my question is what is the difference between F and A in first class? Same question about different fare classes in business -- is one designated for upgrades?

F is a full fare first class
A is a First OneWorld Explorer

J is a full fare business
D is a business OneWorld Explorer
I is a group business fare

With all due respect, but judging from this and the other post, you are setting yourself for a big letdown. Upgrades do happen, but you are almost expecting one because of your status. Your best shot is paying for one, although I don't know if Iberia does it at the airport, and if they do, it's probably very expensive.

Personally I never expect an upgrade when I did not pay for it one way or another, and guess what? I have never been disappointed. I just got op-up on the last segment on AA from MIA-TPA(WOW, for the whole 30 minute flight!!!) couple of weeks ago. Did not ask for it. It was also the segment that put me over 100K miles for EXP. Before that as a Plat for a year, did not get any, unless I paid for it with stickers, miles or VIPOWs.

I would also guess the order for op-ups with any partner within OneWorld would be as follows:
The airliners own top tier,
OneWorld Emeralds
The airlines own middle tier
OneWorld Sapphire (you)

I'm sure the fare paid also gets tossed in to the mix.

I don't want to rain on your parade, and I do hope you get lucky, but I wouldn't get too excited about the possibility as it is slim at best.
