My wife and I recently (Feb/Mar) has an all-NH coded-and-operated itinerary (YVR-HND-NGO, NGO-FUK, HKG-HND-YVR); and for both of the domestic Japanese legs we were unable to check in until physically at the airport. This meant in both cases, we were assigned middle seats in different rows; hardly a 5* experience. Given that experience, I'm hardly surprised the experience when codesharing isn't any better.
That's really surprising. This makes 2 AC code share tickets I buy with NH domestic segments.
Both times, I call, give the 014 ticket number, check EF, and tell them "I want this seat" and the give it to me.
I know ANA is super difficult with non-ANA clients. They have policies relating to class of service and lounges that specifically state that non-ANA clients can't do certain things (and by non-ANA client they say anyone that did not book with ANA and/or that is not coming from an ANA metal flight).
