I've seen some AC US flights at really competitive prices, but yeah, a lot are very expensive.

I have seen J fares on other US carriers (Delta/AA quickly come to mind) cheaper than some AC tango fares.

Since I am not a "status chaser", I will just book whatever is at a better price.

Nevertheless, some AC US and especially domestic flights are super pricey in J. I was looking at YUL-YYC R/T, and it was pricing at nearly $3,000. For the same price, you can go to Europe (and for 10% more, Asia) in J on AC or other carriers.

Why would I pay the same price as an international ticket (full meal, drinks, and pods) for a more basic meal and only a reclining seat?

I have my ideas on why it's optimizing revenue for AC, so that is fine. I guess I was just cut out of the market by the real spenders!
