Its a Delta Award ticket in Business Class on Alitalia. Issued in D class (business class). I spoke with Alitalia offices in Europe, and they told me its basically a forward section of the cabin with "enhanced" beverage and snack service. It also provides access to Business Class lounges at FCO (on departure).
Lounge access is the main reason I redeemed that extra 5000 miles (vs 25000 miles for coach</font>
What they didn't mention is that it is a very cramped "forward section." Their regular coach is 31" pitch. Business is 33". If you are on an Airbus and on the left side of the plane you will have a shrunken seat separating you and your seatmate, but if you are on the right, seating is 3 across! (It is very weird to describe... you have to see it for yourself.)
However, food and beverage service is still high quality. Better, might I add, then what I received flying in their Magnifica class!? Just beware: boarding at any Italian airport with Alitalia is a mob scene. You are best staying in the lounge until 15 minutes prior to departure and getting on at your leisure than trying to fight the crowds.
