6) I couldn't even buy up to business seating "because it's an AC codeshare"
So, one can only select a seat AT THE AIRPORT. Lovely, by that time, we are stuck in the second last row for a 7 hour flight with one of those nightmare-liner HD configured 787. 6'4", legs wrapped around my chin. It's literally not healthy.
On my way back, I begged the AC NRT concierge to get me advance seating in person.
So, a high-flex B fare doesn't get you anything in a codeshare, except being treated like a third class flier. At least I got the points credited.
Moral of the story: AVOID AC CODESHARES LIKE THE PLAGUE. The are definitely NOT convenient whatsoever.
Clearly, AC does codesharing to just add annoyance to their customers and make sure that we get treated like the cheap kettle we all are. Thanks again, very much!
Why didn't you just interline with NH/TG/CA/OZ/KE/JL/CX? (admittedly, maybe not the latter 3 if you really prefer *A, and connecting in PEK/PVG is not my favourite thing to do...)
