Great, I'll just have to put my camera together and carry it without a nice protective bag. It'll way just under 10Kg and fit in the sizer. I guarantee it will not feel good when the block of metal falls out of the bin onto someones head. I'll take 14kg with the padded bag anyday or the stupid thing is, I could take the camera out and carry on both camera and empty bag without checking it. What sense is that, at the end of the day, they still weigh the same collectively and will take even more room. I've never had any problems with my carry on with any other carrier and now my home carrier that I dump so much $$$ into want to screw me over? Sorry for the rant.
Buy a proper case and check it. That's what my wife does when she travels with her lenses. If you can afford $10K plus for camera stuff, spend the $800 for the case. I'm very happy about this new carry on program. My flight yesterday, way to much on board. To many people think their stuff is to important to check. I collect wine, once wine was banded from carry on, I spent the cash for a proper case instead of writing about how this effects me on FT..
