That is a legitimate answer to much of the bs associated with flying: don't fly.
Some of us are trying, but it's not nearly as easy as you may think. People outside of FT refer to those that fly (eg us) as having the "cool" jobs. Realistically, we have these jobs because we're really good at it or we are specialized in something. The company is willing to pay for (us) to fly because they have to, not because they want to.
Ergo, many of us (e.g. me) are pigeon holed into highly specialized jobs. It's not nearly as easy as you put it to get out.
