The PA remains my hotel of choice in Bangkok, despite the current renovations that can get a bit intrusive in terms of noise during the day . I understand they should be finished , at least in the lobby, by end of July . Room renovations will continue for a few months . I have already stayed in one of the renovated Athenee rooms and was quite impressed with it . It still retains the old world charm that was the PA trademark but also feels more in touch with the needs of the younger generations .
The club lounge staff is simply superb, the lounge itself probably the best SPG lounge in Bangkok . It is huge and serves not only afternoon tea with all sorts of cake , but a very nice evening spread ( two hot dishes that rotate on a daily basis between Thai , Indian, European , chinese and other selections )and many cold options , all with free flow of cocktails, liquors , wines and bubbly . Really not bad . They have now resumed breakfast service in the lounge , which I always prefered over the full buffet option downstairs ( really impressive but gets busy at times) , but you can still enjoy it for free as a Plat if you wish . They have a nice restaurant selection and I would specially recommend the gastro bistro dinner at Reflexions on week-ends. I always get upgraded to a deluxe suite and even sometimes to a royal club suite . The GM is a true professional who is very friendly and will go out of his way to accomodate your needs .
I don't need more than that and their rates are reasonable .
