KVS does not do auto searches. You must search yourself, as often as you wish. You can save a search so that you don't have to enter all the parameters each time. You can't search for specific seats but you can view an active seat map.
I've been extremely happy with my subscription. For me, KVS gives me much more award availability for OneWorld carriers that EF can't provide.

[Awards/StarAlliance] Engine displays Award Availability on a Per-Trip basis, so the same Availability applies to all Segments.
If you would prefer to see Availability for each Segment, you can use the
[Awards/AC-StarAlliance] Method instead.
