I have been a HGP member for over 10 years and have been a Diamond member for at least the last 6 years. Along with that i am also a Diamond member at Hilton--not everywhere has a Hyatt and sometimes they just have a better location. Last year i feel below the mark to make Diamond...it was a year full of travel, but to new locations in Europe that didn't have Hyatt and several conferences that just didn't have a Hyatt close enough to make sense.
I called HGP and asked to match MLife status and/or Hilton Diamond...was told they don't do that anymore. I shared with them my long standing loyalty and also showed that are most occasions I had multiple people traveling with me to the Hyatt because i decided where we would stay. Regardless of any effort...i was told "sorry" no fast track no option except pack your bags and start staying at Hyatt. This was even after I had several stays...already at 21 stays by end of May--doesn't matter no flexibility.
I have always had great experience with HGP customer service--but i am beside myself. Starwood comps me top status because of Delta status and have contemplated moving over to them because they want my business and my companies business.
I don't undertsand. If you're 4 stays away from Diamond, why do you care so much about a status match?
