But remember that (unlike the airlines) since Amtrak travel postings aren't related to the name on the ticket, all you really need is to provide your Guest Rewards number on somebody's ticket, not necessarily your own... granted, you need someone willing to give up their own points, perhaps for a short trip, or somebody that doesn't have their own account. But it may be a possibility for those facing mileage expiration that don't have their own plans to travel on Amtrak.
